| WATER UTILITY |
DMCI-MPIC Water Company (DMCI-MPIC), is 55-45 joint venture with Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) which has a 92% stake on Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) which operates at the West Zone of Metro Manila. Presently, Maynilad has a total of 762,315 billed water services, equivalent to a population of around 6.2 million, in the West Zone which covers nine cities and two municipalities in Metro Manila and one city and five towns in the Cavite province.
Recently, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Systems (MWSS) has approved Maynilad's application for concession extension for another 15 years. If finally approved by the Philippine Government, an extended term will allow Maynilad to increase its planned investments and lower its tariffs for customers. The term extension will also enhance Maynilad’s ability to undertake long-term projects that will ensure the reliability and security of water supply for the West Zone, address environmental issues with an accelerated sewerage program, and generate thousands of jobs from these increased capital expenditures. |
